I'm planning a trip to Western BWCA during the first 2 weeks of October. This is my first expedition. Will try to take notes and photos and plan to submit such and comments relating to my route etc. I came to the same conclusion (as R. Donaldson) about the weather and bugs. Hoping to see lots of color and wildlife. Plan to travel small rivers and many small lakes and portages solo. Any ideas or suggestions re: late fall canoeing/camping in this area of BWCA (Western) would be appreciated.
