Brian,
I did enjoy posting it. It was a solo trip so it was a while before I could tell anyone. I promise I will share more in a few months, complete with pictures and maybe even a diagram. I've simply too much on my plate right now to do it justice. It was by far the wildest thing I've experienced in my 20 odd years worth of trips. I'll never forget the site of that bear running away with my spare paddle in it's mouth. (holding it by the grip so it's head would tilt as the blade bounced along) This is the same paddle I've used in the past with the idea of protecting myself from a bear. Imagine what I was thinking at the time. Especially 10 minutes after Ravens, acted in concert to create a diversion, so one of them could fly back and steal my dish soap! To top it off, that persistent bear swam after me to the mainland, where I mistakenly intended to finally have breakfast while repacking my canoe. I was almost starting to feel like it thought I was it's own private waiter, or even worst, just another item at the salad bar.
One thing I forgot to add is-
12. You can't use duct tape to patch a Sigg fuel bottle. The gas eats the adhesive.
About the Powerbaits-- I keep them with my lures in what I use for a tackle box. Just think if a bear or whatever ripped it open and started getting hooked on all those treble hooks. Granted a lot of the barbs are gone, but still... I wouldn't want to be responsible... or in the vicinity.Talk about one angry critter! I even USED TO leave one on a jig attached to my rod overnight. Not any more. I don't think the risk is really that great but the consequences might be very unpleasant.
