Thats a tough question to answer. The whole area is great I think. I usually base camp around U.S. point on Basswood but this last trip my father and I flew into Quetico. Are entry point was McAree via Lac LA Croix and paddled are way out to Moose lake. Our route was through McAree, Iron, crooked, roland, argo, darky, brent, McIntyre, sarah with a day trip to tuck, isabella, north bay, basswood, wind and then moose. Other than the wind being a problem and a little rain I thought the whole trip was great. We saw eagle's attacking a crane, otters, deer, loons, bear and moose tracks and alot of the smaller animals. For cliffs and falls, there were a few. Rabecca and curtain falls on Iron lake. There were a few high cliffs but the highest one we saw was on darky lake at the southern end. Lake trout there if you are interested. The trip was during the first 2 weeks of Sept 99. No bugs!!!!
