I had one of the older brown ones and yes, it leaked. The other annoying thing was that I seemed to be the only person who could light it. When they came out with the newer ones that didn't require preheating the generator, it was time to replace the older one. It doesn't leak, lights well and simmers very well. Even for extended periods of time. Try perking coffee on a stove that can't sustain low heat output. My only complaint is that mine is an earlier version that has the little plastic feet.
