You sound like a cross-country kind of guy, like me. I like nothing better than exploration, though it has gotten me into more than a few swamps and briar patches in the past.

Since posting my original question I have studied a number of topo maps and aerial photos, and I think there are several places where a connection can be made without too much trouble or environmental damage. I plan to give it a try anyway, mainly because it is such a short distance, and if it works it will allow me to make a loop rather than going back the same way I came.
