Re: Your biggest back-country blunder...?

We are always very careful to not leave any food laying around the campsite. Once on Rose Lake, I forgot I had a candy bar in my coat pocket. I left it in my tent, and we went out fishing. When we got back, my rain tarp over my tent was ripped, and we could see muddy paw prints on the tent. It was because of the candy bar, and we must have scared it off before it got into the tent. I didn't have a needle or thread, so I bent a fish hook and used fishing line to sew up my tent. I now carry needle and thread and duck tape at all times. Lesson learned. Also, when ever we go fishing, we leave our one buddy (Walt) in camp to scare the bears off.
