It was beautiful in October. I don't remember the exact route we took--I know we went through Tin Can Mike lake and Horse lake. We put in on a Saturday morning, but the Chain Saw Sisters' saloon, and did over half the trip that day. There were snowflakes falling from the sky and everything sparkled like a winter wonderland. The trees were a beautiful shade of red, yellow, and orange. There were a suprising number of people out--I didn't expect to see many at all. Sunday morning, I got up early, and had the amazing experience of watching the frost melt off the ground. But it stayed where the shadows from rocks and trees covered it. It was really quite a sight. We finished that afternoon, and took out where we started. I highly suggest a trip in the fall. It was defenitely a success for me, because it was the first time I had done a trip with new people, and it went terrifically--I even did a one person up with the canoe on the last portage:) Any other questions about BWCA trips in general (especially w/teens--since I am), email me: kiwi44@hotmail.com Posted by Meg on December 31, 1999 at 11:13 In reply to: Re: How are things in BWCA/QUETICO this winter posted by Randy B on December 31, 1999 at 10:35 |
