QF: I had some great fun with smallmouth at the foot of the "falls", I think it was in '95.
My partners had some great luck with northerns on that same trip. My picture of Terry posted in the picture gallery with the 8-10# northern jumping at the side of the canoe was taken in Rat Bay.
My partners visited this area (without me) the year after the fire ('96?)- said the water was badly stained from the runoff, and had no luck at all.
That fire was in '95, I think. Maybe the staining killed all the grass and changed O2/pH concentrations in Rat Bay so that fish didn't hang out there anymore. I would have thought that to be temporary, but maybe that end of Saganagons is more fragile and less fertile than I would have guessed.
