Dave,
We're trying a September trip this year (right after Labor Day). We usually go during full moon in July (I don't know about moon phases and fishing, but the "ambience" of the full moon is amazing. I was on the Churchill River this past August during the full moon - a sight I'll NEVER forget).
We've done North Bay/Ranger bay specific trips twice, Agnes, Kashapiwi (although we never made it to Kash - horrendous weather which is why we ended up on Lost Bay), Saganagons, Falls chain to McEwen (great trip), Other Man via Cache Bay, Clear Lake in the BWCA - I need to look at my photos/journals to remember the rest. It's too early for my aging memory to remember them all.
Wind, weather, bad fishing (although bad in the Quetico is still better than Indiana on a good day) - never had a bad trip, and I don't expect I ever will, even though I'm cold, wet, and the fish aren't biting (but the bugs are)
