Going in Aug. is good as the 10 yo. should not encounter cold temps. & the water temps will be great for swimming . There are 3 campsites in West Bay close to the portage if you're too tired/do not want to stroke to the high camp in the narrows where it'll open up into Quetico . There's one off the eastern tip of the large is. across from the portage & 2 on the southern edge of the island itself but it'll be sheltered from wind for these 2 so mosquitoes could be BAD .
