I've gone over the portage between Badwater and Quetico about 12 times total and
know of others that go that way. We named it killer portage years ago. Nowadays my trips
are just me and another person and we tend to go on long excursions. We always talk about
what not to bring on the next trip, what we really didn't need ect. We onetrip over killer
in about 35 minutes but I know of some that have made 3 trips across ( about 5 miles
total) To get to the point, physical shape of course means alot but not bringing a lot of
unnessasary things will probably make even more of a difference. Some maps show a portage
between Fair lake and Badwater but if you go almost to the NE end of Fair there is a 2 minute portage
portage to the unnamed lake then follow the creek out of that lake to Badwater, about
5 minutes and your on Badwater. I've never been on the long portage but last year we met a group
of people on Fair who could have cried when they heard about the easy way, they said
the long way was really bad.
