Hey Tom, congratulations! I think you will find barbless a great way to fish. It is especially helpful when northern hammer that lure and get all tangled up. Those hooks slide right out most of the time and they can be released no problem. I was first introduced to barbless in Manitoba in the early 80's. They are all barbless up there and my concerns were the same as yours initially. That all changed when I caught a 52", 44lb. monster and had no problem. I simply crimp them down with a needlenose and go from there.
Let's get everyone to go barbless all the time. It keeps the "sport" in fishing. Tim
