Soft plastics - salted 4" lizards and tubes for smallmouth. Curly tails and 4" worms for walleye, although my success on walleye with artificials is limited (Zara Spooks worked well one night - that story's posted here somewhere).
Hard baits are Pike magnets and too expensive for donation to 6 rows of teeth.
Soft plastics and the necessaries to fish them are small and light - I'm getting too old to carry the kitchen sink (although I took a plastic inflatable sink one year - worked well, but never made another trip with it).
