Skip thanks for taking it back to the top. I was soloing from Lady Boot Bay back to the range cabin on LaCroix a few years back. The rest of the group went off another direction to check out some pictograpghs and would meet me later. I was by myself enjoying the solitude and hugging a rock cliff while rounding a point. As I rounded the point a flapping sound about knocked me out of the canoe, as I ducked to keep my head from being bird food. Glancing over my shoulder I saw a large brown eagle flapping it's wings about 5' away from me, as it tried to gain speed and altitude. Apparently it was in a small dead tree on the back side of the cliff about 20' off the water. When I glided under him, he must have been as spooked as I was. He must have jumped off the perch and his downward momentum carried him right by my head before he picked up speed to fly off. Once I realized I wouldn't be "dinner" for a Quetico critter, it was another memorable experience just watching it fly away......................
