I was thinking It was along the same lines as possibly the "Trans-Quetico races" Skip Guyer mentioned.
What I remember was told to me by Joe and Vera ??? who used to man the Lac La Croix ranger station. I hope someone will correct this but… As I recall… There used to be a race that circled Quetico, an amazing feat in itself as far as I'm concerned. But I want to say times were measured in hours (below ~50?) not days. Serious traveling. I remember looking at that "older" man sitting in front of me in a whole new light.
