Hey Randy, no wiley veteran here, and I haven' traveled NW of Pocket or into Gebeonequet. I did take a early Sept. trip where we base camped on Lady Boot Bay of Lac La Croix. One of the day trips we took was into Pocket lake. The short paddle in was guite pretty with wild rice along the small riveulet. We had a great day of fishing in Pocket for smallmouth bass. We didn't really try for other species that day. My partner Dave D. was waxing my butt during the morning tossing a 3/8 oz. jig. My morning was kinda slow but after a short lunch respite we both enjoyed constant action for the remainder of the day. We caught both plenty and large fish. On one particular large blow-down we caught a total of 5 or 6 big smallies in a span of 15 mins. They we all almost identical and around 4.5 to 5 lbs. There were many other good fish also and the day ended with some good heart stopping topwater action. Just another GREAT day in the Q!! So, as you're travelling through be sure to tighten a line in Pocket. Dave D. and I are planning a trip for 2001 to take my son and his nephew on their first Quetico trip. We will probably go back to Lady Boot Bay for an easy first time base camp trip for them. I'm certain that if we do, we'll head back to Pocket. I'd like to take the jaunt down to Gebeonequet as I didn't get in there last time. Please be sure to post after your trip so I can hear about that particular lake and all of the area you travel. While you're in there be sure and tell those smallies hello for me and don't forget to thank the Creator for giving us such a beautiful and restful area for the soul!
