Re: Lac La Croix

Billy,
I have been to Lac La Croix several times. I usually put in at entry point 16 and paddle up the moose river through Nina Moose and Agnes. None of the portages are too rough. The one thing that may slow you a bit is the water level of the river. There are some beaver dams to go over. One year we ended up getting out of the canoes and walking them down the river a bit. We have seen moose while paddling up the river so be quiet and keep your eyes open.
You can make Lac La Croix in a day or even go further. I have never been into Quetico But I know others have talked about taking this route in. You can camp on Lac La Croix or go into Iron lake and on to the Crooked Lakes (Sunday bay, Saturday Bay etc). We've done a Lazy 7 day trip to Sunday bay and had lots of time to fish. Fishing is good throughout these lakes as with most lakes I've encountered in the BWCA. We are also going on this route in August but will probably not make it to Lac La Croix. The wives will be with and no doubt we will stop in Agnes if there is a campsite available. Maybe I can talk them into going further. We'll see.

Good Luck on your trip!!
