Out east barrels are used a lot, both the olive jars and the larger plastic 60 or 30 L barrels. Because I am tired of hanging the food pack, and with the blowdown, some sites no longer have trees to hang the pack, I got a 60L (30 gal) barrel. There are a number of places that you can get both barrels and harness's, I got mine from US Plastic, about $30 plus $8 shipping. I got one that is squared off, hoping it is easier on the back. A harness is coming from Wyoming River Raiders, about $50. A number of the outfitters in Ely now offer barrels for rent(?, sale).
