Re: Clothes

ubang2,
Daytime can be cool or cold. Nights can be freezing.

At least that's what we found in September, 1995 in the BWCA. I remember that I really missed my down vest that I forgot at the outfitter's, and it took me most of a night to plug the hole in my sleeping bag to the point that I could sleep. I remember frost on the canoes one morning.

Last August I was on the Churchill River for a couple of days. Using the experience from the 1995 trip and considering that I was 500 miles farther north, I packed heavy and even remembered my down vest. I still froze at night, but I discovered that Duluth packs have excellent insulating qualities.

We're also planning a September trip this year. I plan to take many layers of relatively heavy insulation and will be buying a new sleeping bag. The +30 degree rating on my current bag isn't enough even if I'm wearing all my clothes.
