Re: Need some advice

Jody,
After I posted my earlier response, I read your other postings and learned that this is your first trip to Quetico and that your trip is for 6 days.

I have made over 20 trips into the Sturgeon, Bentpine, and
Tanner area. My advice for anyone making their first trip into Quetico is not to be too aggressive with their travel plans. Explore, fish, and enjoy the territory along your travel route and camp sites. It is for better to savor where you are than regret the long trip you didn't make.
Besides, there is always next year to explore the other lakes.

I am assuming that you are getting a boat tow to and from Twin Falls for your trip. Depending on when you start paddling, I would not plan on going further than Tanner Lake the first day. Fish up the Malinge River and around the falls below Tanner. The next day you can head for Sturgeon. Fish around the three water falls (portages).
The fishing should be great and this will also give you a chance to rest. The current in the river can be swift and
challenging so be carefull. You can spend your three nights on Sturgeon and take a day trip up Bentpine Creek. I would spend the next day floating and fishing the Maligne River back to Tanner. If want to take another day trip, there is a nice campsite near Flat Rapids (where the Maligne meets Tanner Lake). If you stay there, you can travel to Wink the next day, but it is a difficult portage to find and cross.
You should easily make it back to Twin Falls the next day to meet you pick up.
