Thanks for the contact. Always good to hear from folks with similar tastes. Sometimes it's even better to disagree.

db has put something special together with this site. Ther's room for all who go to the north country, whether it's prely fishing, purely paddling, purely conservationism, or all of the above. Even (or especially) those of us who've been there many times can learn something from all the posts.

The north woods are a tonic for me. In my worst moments, I can pull out the pictures and the memories and hide from reality if I must. Or, I can enhance my better times remembering the same things.

I almost can't wait for retirement so I can spend entire seasons up north. Robert Service was right about the Call of the Wild:

"Hear the challenge,
Learn the lesson,
Pay the cost"

= a motto for most of this life.
