The entry point is very accessible and water entry easy. Wide open apron
right to the shore. There are 5 or 6 campsites at the Superior Nat. Forest
Campground there, if you like to car camp for a night prior to entry. May 99,
I entered at Kawishiwi and soloed to Fish Dance Lake and back out the same way.
There are several long portages. I really loved the route. There are
pictographs at Fish Dance lake, and I chose the route to see them in particular.
I didn't fish, but I spoke to a group in the Kawishiwi river, above the Malberg portage,
who caught large pike.
I have been to Kawishiwi twice. Good medicine.
