Re: Fishing Pickerel

Thanks RV. Fred Lakes sounds like a good place to camp for a few days.

I Just read an old article in the Boundary waters journal(winter 1996) about Pickerel Lake. Says Rawn Narrows has the advantage of being moderately stained. Because of this natural dark stain, fish often continue to feed in the narrows during bright daylight. Another Walleye location that offers smallmouth and pike possibilities, too, is the stream that flows from Art Lake into Rawn Lake. The flow into Rawn Lake(on the west side of the lake) creates a nice fish-holding plunge pool.

Last June, my wife and I fished a pool like this on Brent Lake. The pool was not big but it never ran out of good size smallmouth. Also caught a few walleye there. Very easy fishing, which was great since my wife does not fish much. We used power leeches w/ a hook and split shot or jig.
