Re: New commercial tours on Quetico!!

The Lac La Croix First Nation has been operating the entrance stations for the past few years. They have been guiding with motors on the perimeter lakes of the park for years. These developments, along with the fly-ins to some
interior lakes, are all part of the 1994 agreement the LLCFN
signed with the Ontario government. The fly-in lakes are rotated every few years in order is limit the impact on the fish populations.

I have been canoeing the Quetico for over 20 years and have shared the lakes with the guides and their clients on only a few occasions. This has never detracted from my enjoyment of my trip. Two years ago, my young son and I
took a fly-in day trip to Poohbah. We had a wonderful time and we will never forget that oppertunity to spend a special
day together. I returned to Poohbah last year and did not see any impact on the lake or fishery from being a fly-in lake for two years.

I don't think you have any reason to be concerned about the "commercial tours". This is not anything new. This program encourages co-existence between the users of the park and the LLCFN. I feel that this is a very fair compromise between all of the parties envolved .
