Dave: Sorry again for the late response. I've performed that chant previously, too. I hate to admit it, but we were probably subconciously chanting on our way out as we fought the wind and rain. I've never had a trip there before when the weather was so uncooperative. She'd go again if I asked her to, but it probably wouldn't be at the top of her wish list. I would have considered the trip a success if I got her through it without her breaking any fingernails, but as luck would have it, she broke one hoisting the canoe on the last day. Seriously though, she amazed me with her stamina and she took a lot better care of me than my normal canoeing partner ever did. The food and other camp amenities were the best ever. So, if I had to give any advice to others considering making a trip with their spouse, all I can say is to give them a realistic expectation of the hardships as well as the wonders, and look forward to a great experience. Although the wind and rain took their toll on us this trip, we both enjoyed the challenges and rewards, and finished the trip feeling stronger and closer than ever. …Tom Posted by Tom on August 05, 2000 at 01:58 In reply to: Re: Our year 2000 trip, Carp-That Man-Emerald posted by db on July 25, 2000 at 02:46 |
