Sorry for the length. Generally speaking, fishing is not stellar in the BWCA (nor anywhere in MN) that late into the year. If you plan on catching anything, I'd highly recommend taking live bait, as this will greatly improve your chances. Normally when we go in June, we have more fish than we can handle, July we have the same, but in August we're lucky to get a few good meals, in September I sometimes don't even bring a rod, save an ultralight and my fly rod. Not to discourage you, because there are fish to be caught, you'll just need to be more persistent and not count on catching a boatload.
