What time of year do/ did you use this Thinsulate bag? What kind of temp. rating does it have?
For a pad, I'm going to try a thicker foam pool float that I bought at Target store. I like to use it on te bottom of my canoe as a kneeling pad because it's so thick and resilient. It's made of closed-cell urethane foam, and has a thickened end - like a pillow, which means it'll be in use 90%of the time!! How many items get that much daily use?!!! The only drawback is that it isn't compressible, but can be left in the boat over portages. It weighs about 8 pounds, yet'll provide about 90 pounds of added floatation in a capsize situation. It can't absorb water.
It's about 1-1/2" thick; much more than the usual backpacking type of pads!! I just wish it was a bit longer and wider, but it's at least comparable to the usual size pads.
