Re: Boundry waters trip 8-27to9-2- 00

I have never used an outfitter, but we have invested in our own equipment. Frankly, we like to have the control over our time in the BW. Although I do appreciate the help I get from outfitters (like at Sawbill) when we start or finish a trip. They are very helpful with information, showers, food, camping items, etc. I have thought about using a guide for a serious fishing trip sometime. I enjoy the more remote areas and late sept trips. We head out in just seven days to the BW, sometimes the fishing is slow but we always have at least one fish dinner, that's enough for me, but I would hate to get skunked. Early june trips are probably the best times to fish. As long as everyone remembers it is a wilderness and you have NO control over the elements. If you wish to be a part of it you have to have the submissive attitude "I'll take what it brings and enjoy everything!" (That's what we tell our rookies)You need to increase your participation(time) in the BW, try spring, fall, summer, or winter trips. Guides or not, you can make a great trip because you planned it! Sorry did'nt mean to preach and I understand your concern, but you probably would have planned and put together a great trip yourself, and enjoyed doing it! Go for it!
