I guess timing is everything. We entered Quetico the week after July 4th. Very little traffic. How long did it take you to portage from Comnee to Delahey? What kind of shape is that portage in? The trail from Camel to Vernon seemed to be the only hard portage getting to Delahey from the north. The portage is approx. 740m. No too long, but you have to climb up a steep rock face and then travel through some swamp. We saw a good amount of poison ivy on that trial. But once we reached Camel Creek, we only had a couple of short portages to get to Vernon and then a short canoe drag to Delahey. The water level seemed high. I saw where we would have had to portage several more times if the water was lower. By the way, did you read any of the notes in the olive jar on the island campsite? Paddle on!
