Tom, buddy, glad to hear from you. Hope you're well and life is stable. ISU, eh? And I agree with you. Texas isn't my favorite place (spent a fair amount of time in both Dalls and Austin). Nice to visit and glad I did, but not my idea of excessive fun. Texas is the only place I've ever seen signs on tavern doors that basically said " Check your guns here". We're never too old, Tom, we just have to adjust our mind sets. Even I admit that I don't want to portage anymore and the bugs really get on my nerves. But, we know the area well enough to basecamp on a major lake and make use of the portage lakes for fishing and peaceful existence. And, bugs are a relatively minor incovenience for the pleasure I get from the trips. I missed this year, and I'm in very serious withdrawal. Age and memory loss is a good thing. Think how much emptier your worry box is now. And, selective retrieval is most convenient - only the good stays; the worst of times get banished.
