Well I can't tell you much as to the BW. But I might be able to help you on a Quetico route. Six year ago during the big fire up on the Falls Chain my partner and I were going up thru the Man Chain to Mack Lake. But due to the fire we were stuck south of the Falls Chain. What we did was scout out all the solitude we could find, and it was hard due to with everyone coming in our area, from the Cache Bay area.
We did though find solitude not that far into the park. If you get an entry point for Carp Lake. What we found was that on the smaller lakes between Knife Lake and the Man Chain were hardly used. And that there weren't any poeple there and the area was crowded that year. I'll give you and idea. Lakes like Martin, Fisher, Mink, Beaver, and Crawford. As I recall the portages are mostly easy. One I think, the one from Carp Lake to Beaver Lake was the most diffcult. There are some really nice campsites in the area as well.
The only real big water you would be on if you chose to go that way would be Knife Lake. And it can be a real challenge if the wind kicks up. But there is alot to see in that area to. Hope this helps Greg
