Walley, I don't take Kevlar to fish 'cause I dumped one - the only time I've ever had a problem with a canoe in any kind of waters. Admittedly, I shouldn't have anchored where I did, but that's where I thought the fish were. Live and learn, but no more Kevlar for fishing for Skip. Your food pack sounds like ours - we always take to much, just in case, but none of us would be seriously damaged by missing a meal (or 6). We have instant soup mixes that have made at least 8 round trips (or, they had until our last Silver Falls adventure. The fishing that trip was more like Indiana than Quetico). We'll be making decisions about this year's trip in the next 2 weeks. We'll make our reservations at the Indy Boat show - our outfitter is here every year. I think we're leaning towards a July trip to Basswood or the near vicinity, but I'll make mention of your proposal. I personally would like to go Boundary Point or the Falls Chain (especially the Falls Chain) again, but I'm only 1 voice in our democracy (we really are democratic on these trips). I'll let you know as soon as we decide.
