I agree with Skip. Plus you couldn't get better advice on campsites and fishing spots. Basswood is big water, but has enough bays and islands that you can get around when you want to or need to. The only thing I don't like about Basswood is the motor boats.
I think the Lake One landing to Insula is easy and the fishing on any of those lakes can be great. There are lots of people through there, but that's because it is a nice route.
