Two of us did most of the trip you are talking about, in September 1999, except we went in the other direction. No surprises on Darky-Brent-McIntyer and Sarah. Very nice country with a lot to look at. The portage from Sara to Side is rough, but the worst part of the entire trip is the Isabella to N. Bay area. If you look on the map it shows a small stream going into N.Bay. This part is FULL of Beaver ponds/dams. We ran across 6 or 7 of them. It made for very slow going and we were whiped by the end of it. This should be toward the end of your trip, so your canoe should be a little lighter than ours was. If you stay anywhere in N. Bay you should be able to get to P. Portage in less than 4 hours (it took us 3 hours). This will be a great trip.
