Early May??? I just spoke to Jay Handberg at Campbell's Cabins on Lac La Croix. Ice Out probably won't happen until the first part of May. My first question would be how are you planning to get to Brent? If you come in from Lac La Croix via the Darky River and Darky Lake you will find some great trout fishing there. My personal best is 22 pounds out of there. I agree with everyone else. Forget about Conmee. Brent has terrific fishing but can get very windy because of the lay of the lake. The west end of the lake from the Darky River to the North Bay into Conmee is by far the best. If the wind is blowing out of the Northwest or Southwest, paddle into the wind and troll back with Hot 'n Tots or "BIG" Shad Raps.
