Took same trip in 98. Tow to Hook Island, thru Silver Falls and stopped first nite at first of the falls in the Falls Chain. Fantastic campsite on left right after Eagle Falls. Second Day thru the rest of the falls chain and up Kawnipi to entry to Wawiag. Third day up Wawiag to Mack. Layover day in Mack and then out in three days.

The portages out of Mack will make you think you have died and gone to Hell - they are the roughest that I have experienced in the 15+ trips in the Q. Mack is a superb lake with great fishing. Only minus is that you are on edge of park and can hear float planes landing next lake over as this is a popular fly-in point. I travel somewhat lighter than the other respondents but still double trip all portages.
