The last week or two of the canoe season is really great! The trees are gorgeous, and the fishing can be very good. No bugs to speak of, that I can recall. The problem is the weather can be rainy for days in a row, and there is considerable less hours of daylight. The nights are cold, which makes getting in the old fartsack a pleasure, but you'll be less inclined to bounce out in the morning with frost. Still, closing out the season is fantastic because of the colors and the lack of people on the trail.
