pow wow trail

I'm new to the Midwest and I'm planning my first trip to the BWCA. I'm considering hiking the Pow Wow trail next month and I'm wondering if anyone has any current information on trail conditions. The guidebooks I have describe it as rough and difficult to find in places (particularly in the western portion). Is this still the case? Also, was this region significantly affected by the '99 microburst? Unfortunately, I'm driving a long way and I don't have a lot of time for the trip. Is 2.5 days a realistic amount of time to complete the loop (I'd probably camp at Campfire Lake the first night and South Wilder the second)?

I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who's traversed this trail recently. I'm also curious about what wildlife I might encounter. Thanks for your feedback.
