Lots of people I know use gallon zip-locs. They are actually relatively safe if you're smart about it. I'm totally serious. Just remember which pack it's in if you're the type of person who throws packs at the end of a portage. I'm not sure if they are still around but someone once took a blow-up type case. He swore AT it every time he used it. Not real convenient. For the price, an army surplus ammo box is tough to beat. The drawback is their heavy, noisy and hard to open. A Peli-case, like Swannee suggested, is my constant companion. Easy to open, except on cold mornings. Even the way I cram stuff in it, everything is easy to get at. It might float depending how many pounds of that heavy NIKON stuff you bring:-) Best of all it's quiet, and when the case is closed I have no worries. Posted by db on July 06, 2001 at 01:35 |
