If you tip over what to do

I frequently go off on my own in my Bell Magic Solo canoe while on trips. I have frequently wandered what should I do if I tip over. Could I set the canoe up get in it and then bail it out. Well this weekend I tried it. First thing was to dump it. The Magic is a fast narrow canoe with little initial stability so it should be easy to dump it. I stood up and found the final stability was very good. After paddling around while standing up for 5 min I just fell over only to find the canoe still upright with less than ¼ inch of water in it but I was in the water. I was able to get the canoe setting up with me in it laying down but the gunnels were below the water so it could not be bailed out. I finely swam to shore dragging the canoe behind.
