I sympathize with your problem, but, unfortunately, the only places comparable to the BWCA (IMHO) are further north and west,

It could be worse. When I was living in Poulsbo, WA, it was a 36 hour or so drive to Ely. From Nebraska, it's much closer, but I haven't figured out how long it will take. Ask me next month!
