a few of my favorites, since i can get to them for a long weekend:

1. sylvania wilderness area, UP
2. craig lake state park, UP
3. pretty lakes quiet area, UP (yes, it is both).

each of these places are small, and with the exception of sylvania, rather lightly used. i tend to use then for early and late trips (by early, i mean just after ice-out until the middle of may; by late, i mean from mid-september until freeze-up).
