I've promised my seven year-old a trip to the BWCAW in 2002 and I'm investigating route options. Priorities for this trip will be a lot different than when I've gone in the past. I'd like to find a route with good swimming and "easy fishing" (in other words, somewhere we can catch fish regardless of species or size). Of course, given that I'll be doing all the heavy lifting, a route without any break-neck portages would be a plus.

Any suggestions? Any pointers from those of you who may have travelled with small children?
