While I share the longing, I have a decision to make. It appears that, for a variety of reasons - all good reasons - the party I've traveled with for > 10 years may be defunct. I've to decide whether to try to find another group, try to convince my wife to go now that the kids can "survive without her", or go solo. I've solo'd on the Churchill, and while the experience was tremendous, I missed my friends (badly). Loneliness, particularly around the cooking fire, was the biggest obstacle of the entire experience. Sheila and I have day tripped during a lodge vacation - she likes the boonies and can emulate the wild bear, but that incommunicado issue still is a factor. Finding another party that would be as much fun and as close as my other partners.... I don't know. Tough decision. Posted by Skip Guyer on November 17, 2001 at 11:10 |
