I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays.

The ice will be gone in 4 or 5 short months... time to start thinking about this year's trip(s) if you haven't started already. If it helps, the portage database is up to date and can now easily be kept that way so keep 'em coming. There may still be a few errors here and there but all in all it's a great resource and, since I've read all 500 plus, I have to comment that it has a few interesting surprises as well.

On a related note-
The delay was originally meant to encourage participation. Since the level of response has surpassed my wildest dreams, I'm wondering if it should be continued as part of the price of admission? Posting new portages reduces it for a year and I've given renewed unfettered access to any contributors who have had problems or simply asked. Any definite thoughts about that from those who participate? Let me know. Just like all of the "shared" areas of QJ, I think of it as "our" resource. How do "we" want to treat it?

Getting back to the new year idea-
Anybody have any "I won't make that same mistake again this year" or "My trip should be better this year because..." thoughts?

I also came up with a new survey question while wondering if KsCanoeist ever found the knife that was lost. I can't think of anything better than finding something worthwhile like that and then being able to find the original owner and return it months later. It's always more fun to give than to receive.

BTW - There were a few user submitted survey questions ready to post but they were unfortunately eaten when one of my hard drives died a loud chattering, scraping, screaming death. As regulars to this forum have noticed I'm out of new ones. If anyone has questions to submit just follow the link on the current results page.
