In all the spring trips I've taken, we entered Quetico on the opening week of fishing. We don't fish a lot but we have found they bite best this time of year. We have over the years had both 80 to 90 temp and once even snow 2" one morning. But never had any trouble out of those black flies. Once on a late june trip we did but only for a couple days. Just remember one thing about those early spring trips. The water is very cold and if you tip over be prepared. We tend to paddle close to the shore on those cold water trips. Good Luck Greg
