I tend not to fish much when traveling so I've never fished the river. For the general area, I'd pick Minn and Ballard for 'eyes, definitely Darky for Lakers, and Wicksteed is the only lake where I've ever even considered using a wire leader... so you know what that means.

I've been to Wicksteed few times but haven't really taken the time to get to know it. My excuse is the fishing was always too good. We'd camp on Darky and just do day trips. Personally I'd reverse that if I went there again. With all those rocks and islands it's got to be one of the more beautiful lakes around for enjoying a sunset. I'd really concentrate on knowing exactly where my campsite was too. Twilight is my favorite time to be out on the water and I bet it could be a mighty confusing lake to paddle after dark.
