Wally, I was on LaCroix last year for opener and observed quite a few Walleye fisherman congregating around the East Loon Bay area - I realize that this might be off your beaten track, but I would recommend it highly. We camped on East Loon right where the creek comes out (forgot it's name, but look at the elbow of East Loon) and observed some folks having good luck on the Walleye there. Down into the inlet towards Devils Falls was also hot, at least on opening weekend. I would not imagine that motorboaters would have come so far from Crane Lake without pretty good knowledge of what lies therein!
