I was in Brent and Conmee both in about 1995 or so. Brent is a good lake for numbers of lakers, though they rarely top 5-6 pounds. We found plenty in the western basin and also in the narrower stretch just east of that basin before it really necks down and turns to the north. Conmee is a good walleye lake. I love the average size there, though they aren't always easy to catch. We were there in early June and had our best luck in the evening casting gold rapalas over some 5-8 foot flats. Lotta pike, too, but the average size of the walleyes made it worth dealing with the pike. We caught mostly 3-4 pound walleye with a few 5 pounders mixed in. Go easy on keeping the big ones, please. Fortunately, Conmee is remote enough that packing out fish is virtually impossible. Posted by Snowdog on March 06, 2002 at 13:34 |
