Re: KNIFE LAKE

I have been to Knife Lake twice. Had a chance to visit the legendary Dorothy Molter in the early 80's. I returned in 94. No one has mentioned the BEARS of Knife Lake. I know you didn't ask for that info but it might be helpful. Hang your packs and keep them out as far from the main part of the tree as possible. The bears are onto hung packs and how to reach them. I watched one get a hold of one of our packs by keeping both hind legs on the tree and having one front leg streched out on the limb the pack was hanging from and swating it with his free leg while being pelted with rocks. After he got it swinging he ripped it open with his teeth. Do not camp at the camp sights on the south side of the lake by Thunder Point unless you want to have bears in camp at any time of day or night.
